DIO-SEALTM
Wafer-Style Instrument Isolator (Patent 5,154,083) |
Series
32
The Series-32 DIO-SEALTM Wafer-Style
Instrument Isolator is a circumfranctial instrument protection
devise separating a pressure gauge, transmitter, or switch
from hard-to-handle process fluid, completely eliminating
instrument corrosion and plugging,. The isolator interior
consists of an elastomeric or PTFE-line Sensor Ring….
The ONLY wetted component of the isolator. The end faces of
the sensor ring contain integrally molded flange sealing beads,
eliminating the need for separate flange gaskets. This flow
through isolator creates a no “dead zone” installation,
offering superior performance to diaphragm seals. The
wafer style DIO-SEALTM isolator utilizes vulcanization-bonded
methodology to form and bond the sensor ring to the carbon
steal or stainless steal isolator body. A sensor fluid fills
the instrument’s internal volume and the annular volume
between isolator body and sensor ring. This isolator design
totally eliminates sensor fluid leak parts, allowing trouble
free measurement of both pressure and vacuum in process line
containing viscous and corrosive slurries, as well as ultra-pure
fluids and food products.
The isolator ID makes to Schedule 40 ANSI Class 150 flanged
piping system. Isolators for ANSI class 300 and 600 flanged
piping are also available.

Isolator
Installation
The wafer style Isolator
is designed to fit inside the bolts of the mating pipe flanges.
Flange Gaskets are not used, since the Sensor Ring contains
integrally molded face sealing beads .The sealing beads protrudes
from the face of the isolator body(as shown in Dimension Table)Upon
Installation, the sealing bead is captured between the isolator
body, and the mating flange, with the mating flange bottoming
out on the face of the isolator body. This sealing mechanism
yields a Leak-Proof Flange Seal, and ensures that factory calibration
will accurately represent field data.
The annular volume
between Isolator Body and Sensor Ring, and the instruments internal
volume, are filled with a sensor fluid, providing the hydraulic
link required to transfer the process pressure signal to the
instrument. The sensor fluid must be compatible with the sensor
ring material, and the process fluid.
Working Pressure is
normally the flange pressure rating, at the flange operating
temperature. The Isolator can be operated up to the maximum
allowable temperature rating of the Sensor Ring material.
